2009 Polaris Sportsman 550 xp
By David (I am an Owner) on Jan 31, 2017Feels a lot bigger than it really is. Takes quit a bit of throttle to give over obstacles. Besides that, it's a great machine. Engine isn't as reliable as the 850. Be expected to rebuild the engine after 200 hours. Piston rings and valves are known to leak and burn oil. Does a great job though ... making the driver feel in control

JUNK...
By Bruce (I am an Owner) on Jun 14, 2013I bought this quad for my wife (NEW).. The brakes had to be replace after 200 miles.. If she hit 20 mph once I'd be surprised. When I changed the brakes I noticed the ball joints had play in them. Brought it back to the dealer and the said the fixed them.. The fix lasted about a year, just in time ... for the warranty to expire. The ball joints had to be replaced as the were the wrong size at a cost of $400.. Polaris wouldn't cover them. I'd never buy another Polaris again. Junk..

sportsman 550 efi xp
By Steve Stone (I am an Owner) on Apr 11, 2013Its the cadillac of the trails. love the ride. I have been hard on the plastic/screws that hold it together. two weeks after I bought it I broke the frame where the cheap rear bumper mounts to the frame. ripped the whole rear assembly off laying on the ground behind me. the rear utility box bumper ... brake and reverse lights all in a heap. polaris wouldnt do good on it. I am rather rough so I put some round stock inside frame and made new mounts for exhaust and bumper to mount on. better then factory. what a weapon this thing is though. couldnt be more impressed with it. passes the old 700's. love it. I have 27" mud lite xl's and use them. it a great trail buggy but has the power to go in the holes too. tie rod ends from factory are a little small keep a few extra. what a machine. wheelies all day long(hence the broken frame)

2009 Sportsman XP EFI 550
By Robert Nodge (I am an Owner) on Mar 26, 2010I have taken my Stealth Black 550 through allot of deep mud and water and it has not let me down. On the trails it also grabs the dirt and gives you a feeling of sureness. I owned a 2003 sportsman 500 before this and the ride and handling are completely different. At the end of a long hard ride ... my arms were not nearly as tired as after a ride on the 500. When buying this ATV I decided to go without the EPS (electric power steering) for the fear of future problems with this feature. Polaris even warns you about getting the EPS wet. Well I am sorry but my machine is going to get very wet and I don`t want to worry about my steering screwing up on me in the middle of a ride. The styling of this machine is also awesome and gets allot of attention from other riders. If you are even considering buying a new ATV you have to take one for a ride. Only then will you understand what I am talking about. I`m Rob and that`s my review. Cheers!

Browning 550 XP EFI 2009
By Steve (I am an Owner) on Feb 12, 2010Rides awesome! "Did you feel a bump?" I ride it hard. The only thing is is the rear bumper is awful weak. I had to cut it off and put the rear brushgaurd on. It is not very strong. But it looks good. The dealer said that they are not a strong item to begin with. 50 dollars to replace the original. ... My buddys got the Arctic Cat Mud Pro and it rides terrible. Its tranny case is loud! Tops out at 52 mph! whats that? I have had this 550 over 70 mph. NO COMPARISON. Hes got the torque but i can walk without a limp after riding all day. Good job Polaris, what a rig. Oh yeah love the camo on the wheels, just wish that they werent 14 inch. Too close to the rocks. But they are steel and can be fixed easily on the trail.

2009 Polaris 550 XP
By Peck Frizzley (I am an Owner) on Oct 28, 2009I have not a bad thing to say about this machine. I owned prviously a 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500, the Remington Edition and it was an very reliable quad then went to a 2008 Sportsman 500. Thats where I didn't think it could get much better fer comfort and all together good machine until!!!! I got ... this 09 Xp 550. WOW thats all I could say. The ride is even better then the 08 wich was an excellent ride all ready, the handleing, it sounds different more clearence, all around different bike fer the better. They out did themselves again some how, very well worth your money!! A friend of mine has an 850 and he said the same about it. You wont believe it till ya Ride it, Hold On Tight!!!!
