After taking the Sport UTV market by storm in 2019 with the Teryx KRX 1000, Kawasaki has upped the ante, and passenger capacity, with the all new Teryx KRX4 1000.

Built off of the popular and highly dependable Teryx KRX 1000 platform, the new four-seat model allows families to enjoy their favorite outdoor activities in comfort, while enjoying the high-performance capability and dependability that Kawasaki is known for. For the all-new four-seat version, Kawasaki engineers focused on designing a comfortably large rear passenger area that easily accommodates full-size adults, without sacrificing any of the performance that the two-seat version has been praised for.

Providing room to accommodate two additional passengers in the back, Kawasaki went from a 98.8″ wheelbase to a whopping 126″ wheelbase. This not only adds space for a roomy cabin for 4, but also to the overall length of the KRX4 to improve ride quality.

To appease the masses and provide some incredible options in style and performance, Kawasaki will be offering the Teryx KRX4 1000 in three different trim packages, with all three having some great standard features such as WARN VRX 45 winch, and KQR Sport Roof. Keep reading on to see the special features of the premium models.

Price starts at $28,499

The standout model for the new Teryx KRX4 1000 lineup is going to come in the eS trim package with notable features like

  • 999cc Liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine w/ selectable power mode
  • Rigid frame that incorporates the ROPS as a stressed member
  • Long travel suspension w/ 18″ of front wheel travel and 21″ of rear wheel travel
  • FOX 2.5 live valve internal bypass shocks
  • Kawasaki Electronic Controlled Suspension (KECS)
  • Large volume CVT w/ centrifugal clutch
  • 31″ Maxxis Carnivore tires mounted on 15″ aluminum wheels
  • Large rear cargo space
  • TFT color instrumentation w/ smartphone connectivity

If you’re familiar with the Teryx KRX 1000, you know that it’s a tried and true powerplant. To ensure the cleanest, freshest air reaches both the engine and CVT to keep the belt cool, dual snorkel intakes are utilized behind the passenger and driver side rear doors and are equipped with pre-filters to reduce dust and debris from reaching the air filter. An electronic throttle valve system is utilized in the dual 50mm throttle bodies to ensure the proper amount of air and fuel are delivered to the cylinders as directed by the KRX4 1000’s ECU.

Chassis Changes For Improved Comfort

Sure we know that the engine specs are important, but let’s cut to the chase. What we all want to know is how the extra wheelbase length is utilized to accommodate two additional passengers. This chassis change allows for an extremely spacious four-passenger cabin that features adjustable front driver and passenger seats, an adjustable passenger t-bar grab handle, and high comfort rear seats. Not only does adding length to the chassis add a spacious cabin, but it also increases the ride quality. Adding to the ride quality, the 68″ track width provides stability for the KRX4 1000 eS at low and high speeds.

When engineers were thinking of the rear passenger area, they took full-size adult passengers into account.

High Tech Suspension

With a 68″ width long travel suspension on the new Teryx KRX4 1000, Kawasaki engineers wanted to utilize the best suspension possible. This is why on the KRX4 1000 eS SE, FOX Racing 2.5″ live valve, internal bypass shocks were added at all four corners of the machine. What makes this suspension setup high tech is that the KRX4 1000 features the Kawasaki Electronic Controlled Suspension (KECS) that utilizes a Bosch Electronic Controlled System to change the settings of the shocks on the fly. Drivers have the ability to select one of three different pre-set suspension settings (normal, firm, and soft) that best suit different terrains and vehicle speeds.

Being able to adjust the dampening of the Kawasaki Teryx KRX4 1000 on the fly is about as high tech as you can get. The KECS system gives you the ability to change shock dampening on the fly to best suit your speed and terrain.

The internal bypass feature of these shocks means that unique design utilizes position-sensitive dampening that changes depending on the operating zone of the shocks to deliver the most plush, predictable ride.

Big Wheels and Brakes

To ensure that the new KRX4 1000 models have the best traction they can get, 31″ Maxxis Carnivore tires have been mounted on stylish 15″ aluminum wheels. This not only gives the KRX4 1000 better traction, but also helps to improve ground clearance . To help these rolling rubber behemoths come to a stop in a hurry, Kawasaki has outfitted the UTV with large 5.8 mm thick, 10″ stainless steel rotors that are paired with 32 mm twin-piston calipers in the front and 38mm single-piston calipers in the rear. To ensure that mud doesn’t collect on the rear rotors, scrapers have been added as well as a cable actuated parking brake system.

It’s not all about good looks when it comes to the wheel/tire combo. The Maxxis Carnivore tires are known for their excellent traction and durability, while the aluminum wheels are tough and allow plenty of clearance for the large 10″ rotors. (eS SE model shown)

While the Teryx KRX4 1000 eS SE has virtually every bell and whistle you might want to ask for, you know that Kawasaki couldn’t just stop there. When you step up to the top tier offering of the Kawasaki Teryx KRX4 1000 eS SE, you get all of the great features in the eS model but also the addition of a 600w Hifonics audio system. The system consists of four 6.5″ door speakers, a 12″ subwoofer perfectly mounted into the bed to deliver heart pounding bass. The 600W, 5-channel stereo that controls it all offers Bluetooth/AM/FM and Apple Control that enables all your Apple devices to be controlled by the unit. All of this is IPX6 Waterproof rated, so you don’t have to worry about conditions when you ride.

Teryx KRX4 1000 SE

Price starts at $27,499

If you don’t need all the high tech gadgetry, Kawasaki still has a great Teryx KRX4 1000 option for you in the SE model. It has the standard features like the WARN winch and KQR sport roof, but has FOX 2.5 Podium LSC shocks that still offer great performance. These shocks feature a single-chamber gas-charged piggyback design with adjustable preload and 24-way adjustable compression dampening, which have been optimized for the new four-seat UTV.

Also on the SE model, Kawasaki went with a standard multi-function all-digital instrument cluster over the 7″ digital instrumentation screen found on the higher end models. It still displays all of the critical engine data you need, just doesn’t look as fancy or have the features found on the other.

While it doesn’t have a color screen or provide some of the information found on the larger 7″ model in the eS and eS SE models, the digital dash still gets the job done.
