Bigger engine highlights 2020 Foreman models

While the sporty Talon family gets most of the attention for Honda these days, Big Red has plenty of other off-road machines available for the 2020 model year. One we’re going to focus on here is the 2020 Honda FourTrax Foreman lineup.

You can break down the 2020 Honda FourTrax Foreman lineup into two main categories: Foreman and Foreman Rubicon. Each has its own trim levels, offering a grand total of seven models: Foreman 4×4, Foreman 4×4 EPS, Foreman 4×4 ES EPS, Foreman Rubicon 4×4 EPS, Foreman Rubicon 4×4 Automatic DCT, Foreman Rubicon 4×4 Automatic DCT EPS, and Foreman Rubicon 4×4 Automatic DCT EPS Deluxe.

Foreman vs. Foreman Rubicon

The Foreman and Foreman Rubicon share plenty in common. Generally speaking, the Rubicon is a more premium model and the true flagship of Honda’s ATV lineup.

Both share the same 518cc single-cylinder engine, which is a step up from the 487cc mill they relied on last year. This was accomplished by increasing the bore from 92mm to 96mm.

2020 Honda FourTrax Foreman Rubicon Suspension

Independent rear suspension is the most noticeable difference between Rubicon and non-Rubicon models.

The differences come in the chassis and suspension. While the base 2020 Honda FourTrax Foreman offers up 7.28 inches of front travel and rear travel, the base Foreman Rubicon sees its rear suspension travel jump to 8.46 inches. The Foreman Rubicon also benefits from independent front and rear double-wishbone suspension, while the Foreman relies on a swingarm in the rear.

You also see differences with the footprint of both models. The Foreman 82.8 inches long, while the Foreman Rubican stretches out to 84.5 inches. The Foreman Rubicon also has a slightly longer wheelbase of 50.9 inches (50.0 inches on Foreman) and taller seat height of 35.8 inches (34.2 inches on the Foreman). The Foreman Rubicon also has a significant advantage in ground clearance at 9.4 inches, compared to 7.5 inches on the Foreman.

Foreman 4×4 – $7399

If you just have to have a Foreman, this is the cheapest way to get in the door – just don’t expect a lot of extras. The base Foreman 4×4 comes standard with the new 518cc liquid-cooled engine and swingarm rear suspension. The good news is you still get the versatility of the TraxLox selectable 2WD/4WD system.

Foreman 4×4 EPS – $8099

The next level up in the Foreman lineup is the Foreman 4×4 EPS, which is a $700 premium over the base model. The only notable difference is the addition of electronic power steering. EPS isn’t an absolute necessity on an ATV, but it sure does make a long ride or a day working a while lot easier on your arms.

Foreman 4×4 ES EPS – $8,349

The final level before moving up to the Rubicons is the Foreman 4×4 ES EPS. Opt for this model and you get all the same features on the other two models, along with Honda’s Electric Shift system.

Foreman Rubicon 4×4 EPS – $8799

Move up to the Foreman Rubicon family and you start out with the Foreman Rubicon 4×4 EPS, which carries an MSRP of $8799. It comes standard with disc brakes and independent rear suspension (like all Rubicons) and features electronic power steering. This isn’t the cheapest Rubicon, but it lacks one thing that the other three models offer…

Foreman Rubicon 4×4 Automatic DCT – $8,699

Coming in $100 cheaper than the 4×4 EPS is the Rubicon 4×4 Automatic DCT. It’s the Automatic Dual Clutch Transmission that really sets it apart, though it does lack the power steering of the aforementioned model.

Foreman Rubicon 4×4 Automatic DCT EPS – $9399

As the name suggests, the only thing separating this model is the addition of electronic power steering, which comes with a $700 price hike. It still features disc brakes, independent rear suspension and the Automatic Dual Clutch Transmission.

Foreman Rubicon 4×4 Automatic DCT EPS Deluxe – $9899

The flagship model in the entire Honda ATV lineup is on the short list of the longest names in the entire indstry – the Foreman Rubicon 4×4 Automatic DCT EPS Deluxe. Whew, that is a mouthful! It comes with everything else mentioned above, along with bonus features like aluminum wheels, color-matched suspension and painted bodywork.
